Description
本發明有關一含有聚烯烴聚合物及一膨脹之石墨的半導性組成物。在一態樣中,本發明有關電纜及電線。在另一態樣中,本發明有關含有一絕緣層的電力電纜,同時在另一態樣中,本發明為有關電力電纜,其中該絕緣層含有包含一聚烯烴聚合物及一膨脹之石墨的組成物。
一典型的絕緣電力電纜通常包含一或一以上之高效能導體於電纜蕊中,其由數個包括第一半導性遮蔽層(導體或內半導體遮蔽)、一絕緣層(基本上為一非傳導層)、一第二半導性遮蔽層(絕緣遮蔽)、一用於接地相的金屬電線或帶狀遮蔽及一保護套(其可或不為半導性)的聚合材料包覆。通常在此結構中加入附加層如防滲水材料。
用以獲得電傳導性的一般手段為藉由在聚合物配方中使用傳導性碳黑。基本上,在半導性聚合物配方中的碳黑負載量為30至40重量百分比(wt%)範圍間。此些半導性化合物的體積電限當在一完成之電力電纜結構上使用描述於Insulated Cable Engineers Association(ICEA)Specification S-66-524(1982)中方法測量時,通常為10至105歐姆-公分(ohm-cm)範圍間。聚烯烴配方如揭露於USP 4,286,023、4,612,139、及5,556,697及歐洲專利第0 420 271號。然而,
此高碳黑負載導致高黏度及不良的清澈度。低的碳黑負載為所欲的以改良半導性遮蔽的擠壓可操作性,同時維持高電傳導性。
因此,需要一用於半導性聚合物組成物製備的聚合組成物,其在比傳統傳導碳黑相比為較低填充劑負載下呈現較高的傳導性。
在一實施例中,本發明有關包含聚烯烴聚合物及膨脹石墨(亦已知為奈米-石墨)的半導性組成物。此些半導性組成物提供在一廣範圍温度下的均一傳導性;均一的傳導性較佳為維持於15-160℃。
在另一實施例中,組成物之膨脹石墨包含總配方的一百分比,其包括但未限制為約0.1至約35 wt%間,且較佳介於約1至約15wt%間。在另一實施例中,膨脹之石墨具有大於每公克40平方公尺(40m2
/g)的BET(Brunauer、Emmett及Teller)表面積。
在另一實施例中,本發明有關一電力電纜,其包含一半導性遮蔽層,其中該遮蔽層包含一聚烯烴聚合物及一膨脹之石墨組成物。
在另一實施例中,本發明為一半導性組成物,其包含(i)一聚烯烴聚合物,及(ii)基於組成物重量之約1至約15 wt%之膨脹石墨,該石墨具有一BET表面積大於40 m2
/g。此半導性組成物提供均一之傳導性。

"電纜"、"電力電纜"及相似詞意指至少一在保護套或鞘的電線或光纖。基本上,一電纜在一般的保護套或銷中典型為二或更多電線或光纖結合在一起。在套中的各別電線或纖維可為裸線、包覆的或絕緣的。組合電纜可含有電力電線及光纖二者。電纜等可設為低、中及高壓應用。基本的電纜設計為說明於USP 5,246,783、6,496,629及6,714,707中。
"聚合物"意指由不論是相同或不同的聚合單體製備而得的聚合化合物。總稱的聚合物一詞因此包含均聚物一詞,通常用以稱呼僅由一種單體製備之聚合物,及定義如下的共聚物一詞。
"共聚物"意指由至少二不同型式單體的聚合作用而製備的聚合物。此總稱的詞包括共聚物,通常用以稱呼一由二種不同型單體製備之聚合物,及由至少二不同型單體製備之聚合物,例如三聚物、四聚物等。
"摻合物"、"聚合物摻合物"及相似詞意至少二聚合物的摻合物。此一摻合物可或不可互混合。此一摻合物可或不可相分離。此一摻合物可或不可含有一或一以上的主要構形,其主要由穿透式電子顯微鏡、光散射分析、x-射線散
射分析及其此技已知之其他方法測定。
"膨脹之石墨"、"奈米-石墨"及相似的詞意指以X-射線繞射圖譜證實不具有任何顯著排列的石墨。膨脹之石墨己經處理以增加構成石墨結構的各別層間的內平面距離。
在一實施例中,本發明有關含有聚烯烴聚合物、或一含有聚烯烴聚合物的摻合物及一膨脹石墨的組成物。在另一實施例中,本發明有關一含有聚烯烴聚合物或其摻合物及總配方總重的約0.1至約35 wt%之膨脹奈米-石墨的組成物,較佳該膨脹之奈米-石墨包含總配方之約1至15 wt%。在仍為本發明之另一實施例中,膨脹之石墨可進一步包含聚合物基體之奈米或微米或較大大小之聚集體。在另一實施例中,組成物之膨脹石墨具有大於250 m2
/g之BET表面積。在另一實施例中,奈米-石墨可含有官能基,其包括但未限制為羥基、羧基、胺、環氧化物、矽烷、烷基及乙烯基及其他可促進與聚合物基體相容的任何其他基團。
膨脹石墨基本上具有至少10m2
/g之BET表面積,尤以基本上至少40m2
/g,較佳為至少250m2
/g,且更佳為至少500m2
/g。膨脹之石墨的表面積上限原則上可高至約2700 m2
/g,其大約為全部膨脹之石墨的理論表面。然而,膨脹之石墨的基本最大表面積為1500m2
/g,更基本上為1000 m2
/g。
為達本發明之目的,BET表面積之量測可使用在氦氣中30%氮氣於P/Po比例為0.3下完成。可使用多種商業可購得之設備之一以完成此量測,其包括但未限制為
Micromeritics TRISTAR 3000設備及Quantachrome Monosorb設備。樣品為適於在進行量測前除氣。合宜的條件包括温度為200℃及大氣壓力。
聚烯烴聚合物可包含至少一具有熔融指數(MI,I2
)為介於每10分鐘約0.1至約50公克間(g/10 min)及密度介於每立方公分為0.85與0.95克(g/cc)的樹脂或其摻合物。典型之聚烯烴包括高壓低密度聚乙烯、高密度聚乙烯、線性低密度聚乙烯金烯線性低密度聚乙烯,及幾何限制之觸媒(CGC)乙烯聚合物。密度係藉由ASTM D-792方法測量且及熔融指數係藉由ASTM D-1238(190C/2.16kg)測量。
在另一實施例中,聚烯烴聚合物包括但未限制為乙烯與未飽和酯的共聚物,具中酯含量為共聚物重量的至少約5wt%。此酯含量通常如80wt%高,且在此量時主要的單體為酯。
在仍為本發明之另一實施例中,酯含量的範圍為介於約10至約40wt%間。此重量百分比為基於共聚物的總重。未飽和酯的範例為乙烯酯及丙烯酸與甲基丙烯酸酯。此乙烯/未飽和酯共聚物通常藉由傳統高壓製程製造。此共聚物可具有在約0.900至0.990 g/cc範圍間的密度。在仍為本發明之另一實施例中,此共聚物具有在約0.920至0.950 g/cc範圍間的密度。此共聚物亦具有一在約1至約100 g/10 min範圍間的熔融指數。在仍為本發明之另一實施例中,此共聚物亦具有一在約5至約50 g/10 min範圍間的熔融指數共聚物。
此酯可具有4至約20個機原子,較佳為4至約7個碳原
子。乙烯酯的範例為:醋酸乙烯酯;丁酸乙烯酯;新戊酸乙烯酯;新壬酸乙烯酯;新癸酸乙烯酯;及2-乙基己酸乙烯酯。丙烯酸及甲基丙烯酸酯的範例為:甲基丙烯酸酯;乙基丙烯酸酯;t-丁基丙烯酸酯;n-丁基丙烯酸酯;異丙基丙烯酸酯;己基丙烯酸酯;癸基丙烯酸酯;月桂基丙烯酸酯;2-乙基己基丙烯酸酯;月桂基甲基丙烯酸酯;肉豆蔻基甲基丙烯酸酯;棕櫚基甲基丙烯酸酯;硬脂基甲基丙烯酸酯;3-甲基丙烯氧基-丙基三甲氧基矽烷;3-甲基丙烯酸氧基丙基三乙烯基矽烷;環己基甲基丙烯酸酯;n-己基甲基丙烯酸酯;異癸基甲基丙烯酸酯;2-甲氧基乙基甲基丙烯酸酯:四氫基呋喃基甲基丙烯酸酯;辛基甲基丙烯酸酯;2-苯氧基乙基甲基丙烯酸酯;異冰片基甲基丙烯酸酯;異辛基甲基丙烯酸酯;異辛基甲基丙烯酸酯;及油基甲基丙烯酸酯。尤以甲基丙烯酸酯、乙基丙烯酸酯、及n-或t-丁基丙烯酸酯為佳。在烷基丙烯酸酯及甲基基丙烯酸酯的例子中,烷基可具有1至約8個碳原子,且較佳為具有1至4個碳原子。此烷基可以氧基烷基三烷氧基矽烷取代。
聚烯烴聚合物的其他範圍例為:聚丙烯;聚丙烯共聚物;聚丁烯;聚丁烯共聚物;具乙烯共單體少於約50莫耳百分比至約0莫耳百分比的高度短鏈分支α-烯烴共聚物;聚異戊二烯;聚丁二烯;EPR(乙烯與丙烯共聚化);EPDM(乙烯與丙烯及二烯共聚化,二烯如己二烯、二環戊二烯、或亞乙基冰片烯);乙烯及具有3至20碳原子之α-烯烴的共聚物如乙烯/辛烯共聚物;乙烯、α-烯烴、及二烯(較佳為非共軛)
的三聚物;乙烯、α-烯烴、及一未飽和酯的三聚物;乙烯及乙烯-三-烷氧基矽烷的共聚物;乙烯、乙烯-三-烷氧矽烷及一未飽和酯的三聚物;或乙烯及至少一丙烯腈或順丁烯二酸酯之共聚物。在仍為本發明之另一實施例中,此聚烯烴聚合物為乙烯基丙烯酸乙酯。
在另一實施例中,聚烯烴聚合物可為均聚物或至少一由丙烯與高至約50莫耳百分比乙烯及/或至少一其他具有高至約20碳原子的α-烯烴衍生之單體的共聚物,該乙烯較佳為高至約30莫耳百分比及更佳為高至約20莫耳百分比,該其他α-烯烴較佳具有高至12碳原子且較佳為高至8碳原子。若一共聚物,其可為無規、嵌段或接枝。聚丙烯的分子量合宜地使用依ASTM D-1238,條件230C/2.16kg(正式稱之為"條件(L)"及亦已知為I2
)之熔融流動測量標明。熔融流動速率與聚合物的分子量成反比。因此,分子量愈高,熔融流動速率愈低,雖然該關係為非線性。可用於實施本發明之聚丙烯的熔融流動速率大致介於約0.1與40間,且較佳為介於約1及40間。可用於實施本發明之聚丙烯的例示包括可由陶氏化學公司取得之VERSIFY聚合物、及Exxon Mobil化學公司取得之VISTAMAXX聚合物。多種聚丙烯聚合物的完整討論為列於Modern Plastics Encyclopedia/89,1988年10月中發行,第65卷第11號第86-92頁。

由傳統技術生產。在仍為本發明之另一實施例中,聚烯烴聚合物可藉由高壓或低壓製程製造。低壓製程基本上在壓力低於7 MPa(MegaPascals)下進行,同時高壓製程基本上在壓力高於100 MPa下進行。
可使用多種觸媒系統製備用於實施本發明的聚烯烴聚合物,其包括但未限制為鎂/鈦系觸媒系統,其由述於USP 4,302,565的觸媒系統為範例;釩系觸媒系統如描述於USP 4,508,842、5,332,793、5,342,907、及5,410,003中者,一鉻系觸媒系統如述於USP 4,101,445中者,一金烯觸媒系統如述於USP 4,937,299及5,317,036中者,或其他過渡金屬觸媒系統。許多此些觸媒系統通常視為Ziegler-Natta觸媒系統。由單一活性點觸媒如金烯觸媒或幾何限制觸媒製造之聚烯烴共聚物典型上具有小於約95℃的熔點,較佳為小於約90℃,尤以小於約85℃為佳,最佳為小於約80℃且更佳為小於約75℃。
在另一實施例中,對於由多活性點觸媒製造的聚烯烴共聚物,例如由Zeigler-Natta及Phillips觸媒,其熔點典型上小於約125℃,較佳為小於約120℃,尤以小於約115℃為佳且更佳為小於約110℃。此熔點係藉由如述於例如USP 5,783,638的掃描式熱差分析儀(DSC)測量。
在另一實施例中,聚烯烴聚合物可使用利用氧化鉻或氧化鉬於氧化矽-氧化鋁擔體上的觸媒系統製備。典型於原位的聚合物摻合物與方法及觸媒系統為述於USP 5,371,145及5,405,901。一傳統高壓製程為描述於Introduction to
Polymer Chemistry一書之第149至151頁,紐約Stille,Wiley及Sons公司於1962出版。
在仍為另一實施例中,聚烯烴聚合物包含聚丙烯及彈性體的摻合物,其中彈性體為具有密度少於0.90 g/cc之聚烯烴共聚物,較佳為少於約0.89 g/cc,尤以少於約0.885 g/cc為宜,更佳為少於約0.88 g/cc及最佳為少於約0.875 g/cc。此彈性體聚烯烴共聚物典型上具有大於0.85 g/cc的密度,及更佳為大於約0.86 g/cc。低密度彈性體聚烯烴共聚物的一般特性為非晶性、撓性及具有良好光學性質,例如高可見光及UV光的穿透性及低霧度。
雖然在實施本發明中可使用任何彈性體聚烯烴共聚物,較佳之彈性體聚烯烴共聚物係由單一活性點觸媒製造,如金烯觸媒或幾何限制觸媒,其基本上具有熔點為小於約95℃,尤以小於約90℃為佳,較佳為小於約85℃,更佳為小於約80℃及最佳為小於約75℃。
可用於本發明實施之彈性體聚烯烴共聚物包括乙烯/α-烯烴間聚物,其具有α-烯烴含量在間聚物重量之約15 wt%,較佳為至少約20 wt%及更佳為至少約25 wt%。此些間聚物基本上具有α-烯烴含量為少於間聚物重量之約50 wt%,較佳為少於約45 wt%,尤以少於約40 wt%為佳及更佳為少於約35 wt%。α-烯烴含量係以描述於Randall(Rev.Macromol.Chem.Phys.,C29(2&3))之步驟的13
C核磁共振(NMR)光譜量測。大體而言,在間聚物中愈大的α-烯烴含量,則在間聚物中愈低的密度及愈多的非晶系,且此轉變
為保護絕緣層所欲的物理及化學性質。
α-烯烴較佳為一C3-20
線性、分支或環α-烯烴。間聚物一誛為指一由至少二單體製成的聚合物。其包括例如共聚物、三聚物及四聚合物。C3-20
α-烯烴的範例包括丙烯、1-丁烯、4-甲基-1-戊烯、1-己烯、1-辛烯、1-癸烯、1-十二烯、1-十四烯、1-十六烯、及1-十八烯。α-烯烴亦可含有一環結構如環己烷或環戊烷,其造成一α-烯烴如3-環己基-1-丙烯(丙烯基環己烷)及乙烯環己烷。雖然非屬α-烯烴一詞於傳統的意義,為本發明之目的特定環烯烴,如冰片烯及相關之烯烴,尤其是5-亞乙基-2-冰片烯,視為α-烯烴且可用於取代部份或全部前述之α-烯烴。相似地,苯乙烯及其有關之烯烴(例如,α-甲基苯乙烯等)為本發明之目的視為α-烯烴。說明用之聚烯烴共聚物包括乙烯/丙烯、乙烯/丁烯、乙烯/1-己烯、乙烯/1-辛烯乙烯/苯乙烯、及其相似者。說明用三聚物包括乙烯/丙烯/1-辛烯、乙烯/丙烯/丁烯、乙烯/丁烯/1-辛烯、乙烯/丙烯/二烯單體(EPDM)及乙烯/丁烯/苯乙烯。此共聚物可為無規或嵌塊。
可用於實施本發明之彈性體聚烯烴共聚物具有少於約-20℃之Tg,較佳為少於約-40℃,尤以少於約-50℃為佳及更佳為少於約-60℃,其係使用ASTM D-3418-03程序藉由掃描式熱差分析儀(DSC)測量。再者,基本上用於實施本發明之彈性體聚烯烴共聚物亦具有一少於約100 g/10分鐘之熔融指數,較佳為少於約75 g/10分鐘,尤以少於約50 g/10分鐘為佳且更佳為少於約35 g/10分鐘。典型上最小MI為約1
g/10分鐘,且更典型上為約5 g/10分鐘。
可用實施本發明之更特定彈性體烯烴間聚物包括非常低密度聚乙烯(VLDPE)(例如,陶氏化學公司製造之FLEXOMER乙烯/I-己烯聚乙烯)、同質分支、線性乙烯/α-烯烴共聚物(例如Mitsui Petrochemicals公司製造之TAFMER及Exxon Chemical公司製造之EXACT),及同質分支、實質線性乙烯/α-烯烴聚合物(例如,陶氏化學公司製造之AFFINITY及ENGAGE聚乙烯)。較佳之彈性體聚烯烴共聚物為均質分支之線性且實質線性乙烯共聚物。實質線性乙烯共聚物特佳,且其等充份述於USP 5,272,236,5,278,272及5,986,028。
本發明之組成物亦包含膨脹之奈米-石墨。脫層型石墨為膨脹石墨之一型式,其各自的小片藉由與或不與如聚合物或聚合物組份試劑加熱下分離。此膨脹之奈米-石墨可與至少一傳導性填充劑摻合,例如碳黑、碳奈米管、碳纖維、富勒烯,傳導性聚合物如聚乙炔、聚對位苯、聚咇咯(polypyrrole)、聚噻吩及聚苯胺。膨脹之石墨基本上包含基於組成物總重之約0.1至35百分比間,尤以介於約1至15百分比為佳及更佳為介於約1至10百分比間。
一用以形成可膨漲之石墨粒子的一般傳統方法描述於USP 3,404,061。此起始材料為一天然石墨片,其處理至99.9% LOI(灼燒失量)純度的最小量,石墨的粒子大小為介於約-20網目及+60網目間,且較佳為介於30網目至70網目(200-600微米)間。一天然片狀石墨可由美國伊利諾州芝加
哥Superior Graphitec公司取得,如2901級石墨。然而,熟於此技人士可瞭解起始材料之純度的最小量係依由該方法造成的離層、脫層型石墨之最終用途而定。
石墨片之插層係藉由分散片於一含有氧化劑及氧化混合物之溶液中,其包括未限制為硝酸及硫酸的混合物、含有硝酸、氯化鉀、鉻酸、過錳酸鹽、鉻酸鉀、重鉻酸鉀、過氯酸及其等相似者的溶液、或混合物包括但未限制為濃縮硝酸及氯酸鹽、鉻酸及磷酸、硫酸及硝酸的混合物,或強有機酸例如三氟醋酸及一可溶於有機酸之強氧化劑的混合物。在片被插層入後,由片中倒掉過多的溶液。在倒掉後,保留在片中的插層作用溶液之量基本上每100重量份石墨片大於100重量份溶液(pph)及基本上介於約100至150 pph間。
在一實施例中,插層劑為一硫酸溶液、或硫酸及磷酸的溶液,及一氧化劑例如硝酸、過氯酸、鉻酸、過錳化鉀、碘酸或過碘酸、或其相似者。在另一實施例中,此插層劑可含有金屬鹵化物如氯化鐵及與硫酸混合氯化鐵、或鹵素如溴,其為溴及硫酸之溶液或一於有機溶劑中的溴。
在仍為本發明之另一實施例,以插層劑處理之石墨片的粒子藉由摻合與一還原有機劑接觸,其包括但未限制為可於25-110℃的温度範圍間與氧化插層溶液的表面膜反應之醇、糖、醛及酯。合適之特定有機劑包括但未限制為如下列者:十六醇、十八醇、1-辛醇、2-辛醇、癸醇、1,10-癸二醇、癸醛、1-丙醇、1,3-丙二醇、乙二醇、葡萄糖、乳
糖、蔗糖、馬鈴薯澱粉、乙二醇單硬脂酸酯、二乙二醇二苯甲酸、丙二醇單硬脂酸酯及甘油硬脂酸酯。有機還原劑的量合宜為介於石墨片粒子重量的約0.75至4% wt%間。
在由插層劑塗覆之插層石墨片與有機還原劑摻合後,此摻合物曝於25℃至110℃温度範圍間以促進還原劑與插層劑塗層反應。加熱時間由約20小時至半小時,較短時間為使用上述温度範圍間的較高温度。在插層作用後的揮發含量介於約12至22 wt%間。插層之石墨的一範例為得自美國康州坦布里之UCAR CARBON公司之GRAFGUARD酸處理之化學片狀石墨,其為以硫酸及硝酸插層的天然石墨。
當曝至高温(基本上為600至1200℃範圍)時,插層之石墨的粒子膨脹尺寸在似手風琴形式的c-方向為其原體積的80至1000倍,亦即在垂直於石墨結晶平面的方向。此一加熱可以數種方式完成,其包括但未限制為以火直接加熱插層入之石墨、藉由將插層石墨置於一熱表面上藉由使用紅外線加熱元件、藉由感應加熱或相似者。
在另一實施例中,微波能量或RF感應加熱提供生產膨脹之石墨奈米片、石墨奈米片材、或石墨奈米粒子的方法。此微波或RF方法可用於大規模生產且可具成本效益。此化學之插層入的石墨片可藉由RF或微波能量的施用而膨脹之。基本上,加熱3至5分鐘除去膨脹之化學物,但此加熱期間尤其是依化學物而定。此石墨迅速吸收RF或微波能量,但受限為對流及傳導熱傳遞機制。加熱插層劑超過沸點並引起石墨比原體積膨脹許多倍。此製程可藉由使用一
商業可得之具有傳輸裝置的感應或微波系統而持續進行。
在另一實施例中,膨脹可使用一廣範圍的微波爐、射頻(感應加熱)或微波頻率能量。在仍為本發明之一實施例中,一在2.45千兆赫(GHz)操作之商業微波爐可用於膨脹作用。此製程可由商業可得之具有傳輸置的微波系統持續完成。在膨脹後,砑光具或不具石結合樹脂的石墨材料,以形成可撓性石墨片材。此結果片材可裁切成多種大小及形狀。
在仍為本發明之另一實施例中,RF或微波膨脹及適當之研磨技術的組合,如行星式球磨機(及振動式球磨機),可用於有效生產具有高長寬比的奈米小片之石墨片。用於生產合適之石墨片的結晶石墨之微波或RF膨脹作用及研碎作用可更有效的控制石墨片之大小分佈。藉由併入一合適的表面處理,此製程提供一經濟方法以生產表面處理的膨脹石墨。
在仍為本發明之另一實施例中,此膨脹之石墨藉由球研磨、機械研磨、空氣研磨或超音波研碎以生產具高長寬比之石墨片(小片)。商業可取得之可膨漲石墨片產品可由UCAR CARBON公司(美國康州坦布里)。另一商業可得之可膨漲石墨片(Nord-Ming系列之可膨漲石墨)可由Nyacol公司(美國麻州阿許蘭)取得。Nord-Min系列的可膨漲之石墨具有下列特性:純度為92-99%;pH-值為6.0-7.5;粒子大小為由+32-網目至-200-網目;膨脹體積高達350 ml/g;膨脹力高度95 mm;及起始膨脹温度由150℃至300℃。
在另一實施例中,本發明之含有聚烯烴聚合物及一膨脹之石墨的組成物亦可包含傳統添加劑,其包括但未限制為抗氧化劑、熟化劑、交聯共劑、推進劑及阻燃劑、處理助劑、填充劑、偶合劑、紫外線吸收劑或安定劑、抗靜電劑、成核劑、光滑劑、塑化劑、潤滑劑、黏度控制劑、增稠劑、抗結塊劑、表面活性劑、展延油、酸去除劑、及金屬去活性劑。
添加劑可使用量為基於組成物重量之介於少於0.01至多於約10 wt%的範圍間。
抗氧化劑的範例如下,但未限制為:受阻酚如四[亞甲基(3,5-二-第三-丁基-4-羥基氫-苯丙烯酸)]甲烷;雙[(β-(3,5-二第三-丁基-4-羥基苯甲基)-甲基羧基乙基)]硫化物、4,4'-硫代雙(2-甲基-6-第二-丁基酚)、4,4'-硫代雙(2-第三-丁基-5-甲基酚)、2,2'-硫代雙(4-甲基-6-第三-丁基酚)、及硫代二乙烯雙(3,5-二-第三-丁基-4-羥基)氫苯丙烯酸酯;亞磷酸酯及膦酸如三(2,4-二-第三-丁基苯基)亞磷酸酯及二-第三-丁基苯基-膦酸酯;硫代化合物如二月桂基硫代二丙酸、二肉豆蔻酸基硫代二丙酸、及二硬脂基硫代二丙酸;多種矽氧烷;聚合化之2,2,4-三甲基-1,2-二氫喹啉、n,n'-雙(1,4-二甲基戊基-p-亞苯基二胺)、烷化之二苯基胺、4,4'-雙(α,α-二甲基苯甲基)二苯基胺、二苯基-p-亞苯基二胺、混合之二-芳基-p-亞苯基二胺,及其他受阻胺抗解劑或安定劑。抗氧化劑的可使用量為組成物總量之約0.1至約5 wt%。
熟化劑的範例如下:過氧二異丙苯;雙(α-t-丁基過氧
基異丙基)苯;異丙基異丙苯t-丁基過氧化物;t-丁基異丙苯過氧化物;二-t-丁基過氧化物;2,5-雙(t-丁基過氧基)2,5-二甲基己烷;2,5-雙(t-丁基過氧基)2,5-二甲基己炔-3;1,1-雙(t-丁基過氧基)3,3,5-三甲環己烷;異丙基異丙苯基異丙苯過氧化物;二(異丙基異丙苯基)過氧化物;或其等之混合物。過氧化物熟化劑的可使用量為組成物重量的約0.1至5 wt%。可使用多種已知之熟化共劑、推進劑、及阻燃劑如三丙烯異三聚氰酸;乙氧基化之雙酚A二甲基丙烯酸酯;α-甲基苯乙烯二聚物;及其他描述於USP 5,346,961及4,018,852中之共劑。
處理助劑的範例包括但未限制為羧酸之金屬鹽如硬脂酸鋅或硬脂酸;脂肪酸如硬脂酸、油酸或芥酸;脂肪醯胺如硬脂醯胺、油醯胺、芥醯胺、或n,n'-乙烯雙硬脂醯胺;聚乙烯脂;氧化之聚乙烯腊;環氧乙烷之聚合物;環氧乙烷與環氧丙烷之共聚物;蔬菜油;石油蠟;非離子界面活性劑;及聚矽氧烷。可使用之處理助劑的量為基於組成物重量之約0.05至約5 wt%。
填充劑的範例包括但未限制為黏土、沉澱性氧化矽及矽酸鹽、氣相式氧化矽碳酸鈣、研磨之礦物、及具有算術平均粒子大小大於15奈米的碳黑。填充劑的使用量在組成物重量的少於約0.01至大於約50 wt%範圍間。
半導性材料的混合可由熟於此項人士已知的標準裝置完成。混合設備的範例為內批料混合機,如BanburyTM
或BollingTM
內混合機。可替代地,可使用連續單一、或雙螺
桿混合機FarrelTM
連續混合機、werner and pfleidererTM
雙螺桿混合機或BussTM
搓揉連續擠壓機。使用之混合器型式及混合器的操作條件將影響半導性材料如黏性、體積電阻、及擠壓表面的平滑性。
一含有聚烯烴聚合物及膨脹石墨之半導性組成物的電纜可使用多種型式的擠壓機製造,例如單一、或雙螺桿型。傳統擠壓機的描述可見於USP 4,857,600。因此共擠壓及擠壓機的範例可見於USP 5,575,965。一典型擠壓機具有送料器於上游及一模於下游。送料器餵入一具有螺桿的桶。在介於螺桿及模間的下游端為一師網包裝及一煞車板。此擠壓機的螺桿部份可分割為三部份-餵入部份、壓製部份及量測部份,及二區域-後加熱區及前加熱區,此部份及區域由上游至下游。在可替代的部份,沿軸由上游至下游可有多個加熱區(多於二)。若有多於一個的桶,此桶可串聯。每一桶的長度與直徑比為約15:1至約30:1範圍間。在擠壓後聚合物絕緣作用交聯的電線塗層中,電纜通常立刻迅速進入至一擠壓模下游的硫化區。加熱熟化區可維持於約200℃至約350℃的温度範圍間,較佳為約170℃至約250℃範圍間。加熱區可藉由加壓蒸氣或感應加熱加壓氮氣而加熱。
下列實施例進一步說明本發明。
組成物係使用一Brabender混合盆在130℃於20 rpm 5分鐘製備。乙基丙烯酸乙烯(EEA)共聚物與得自TIMCAL
Graphite and Carbon公司的20wt%奈米-石墨之主批料用於製備其他三個組成物。
第一組成物(稱之為12 wt%奈米-石墨組成物)包含39% 20 MI之EEA共聚物、60%之具20 wt%奈米-石墨的EEA共聚物及1%聚合之二-氫-三甲基喹啉(quninoline)。此12 wt%奈米-石墨組成物在總配方中包含12 wt%奈米-石墨。第二組成物(稱之為16 wt%奈米-石墨組成物)包含19% 20 MI之EEA共聚物、80%之具20 wt%奈米-石墨的EEA共聚物及1%聚合化二-氫-三甲基喹啉。16 wt%奈米-石墨組成物在總配方中包含16 wt%奈米-石墨。第三組成物(稱之為38 wt%碳黑組成物)包含61%EEA共聚物(20M)、38%得自Denka之Denka Acetylene black及1%聚合化之氫三甲基喹啉。
12 wt%奈米-石墨組成物與過氧二異丙苯混合以得一最終配方為98.2%的12 wt%奈米-石墨組成物與1.8%過氧二異丙苯。16 wt%奈米-石墨組成物與過氧二異丙苯混合以得一最終配方為98.2%的16 wt%奈米-石墨組成物及1.8%之過氧二異丙苯。38 wt%碳黑組成物與過氧二異丙苯以得一最終配方為98.7%之38 wt%的碳黑組成物及1.3%過氧二異丙苯。組成物的配方概要提供於表1中。
由半導性配方藉由壓縮成型製備單一板。在壓縮成型前,此配方熔融於二滾筒研磨機上。若需要交聯,可加入有機過氧化物。壓縮成型之第一步驟為在120℃於2000 psi壓力下的常規壓製5分鐘,接著以25公噸壓力5分鐘,及接著冷卻該板。壓縮成型的第二步驟為在185℃於25公噸壓力下交聯25分鐘,接著再次冷卻。此板的尺寸如下:總長度為4英吋,寬1英吋,及厚度為125密耳。施用銀塗料於板之每一端的1英吋處以提供與一電阻計的電極較佳的接觸。在銀塗料線間的距離為2英吋(L)。以電阻計在一特定温度於一對流空氣烘箱中測量電阻R。體積電阻以下列程式計算:體積電阻=R x W x T/L
每一半導性配方使用二試樣進行測試。體積電阻由室温(23℃)至150℃的温度範圍間測定。每一組成物在每一温度測得的阻抗概要列於表2中。
此奈米-石墨組成物呈現在一廣範圍温度下的均一傳導性性質。此具有聚烯烴聚合物及奈米-石墨的組成物在一比傳統碳黑負載低的填充劑負載可呈現較高的傳導性。38wt%之碳黑組成物呈現一強的正温度係數效應(於操作温度的體積電阻/於室温的體積電阻的比例)。
聚烯烴聚合物及奈米-石墨組成物有效的降低負載,同時維持電傳導性。再者,此具有聚烯烴聚合物及膨脹之奈米-石墨的組成物改良擠壓可操作性,此係因在半導性遮蔽組成物中較低的填充劑負載及在一廣範圍温度下的均一傳導性。此具有聚烯烴聚合物及膨脹之奈米-石墨的組成物可用於電線及電纜應用。此組成物提供均一的傳導性及可用於做為一中及高電壓之電纜組份的傳導性配方。
具1000 m2
/g BET表面積之膨脹石墨使Staudenmaier方法生產。小心地將0.1克此高度膨脹之石墨於加入100 ml甲苯溶劑之250 ml罐中稱重。此溶劑混合物接著於一水浴中
以超音波處理20小時以打斷膨脹之石墨寄生物為小片。在另一燒瓶中,1.9克乙烯醋酸乙烯基共聚物溶解於在100℃熱盤上之攪拌的再100 ml甲苯中。在樹脂完全溶解後,此溶液加至超音波處理之石墨溶液中並持續於80℃再以超音波處理20分鐘。此溶液接著允許冷卻且藉由旋實揮發除去此溶劑。殘餘的樹脂在一真空烘箱中於60℃乾燥過夜。
此粉末然後使用一Leco熱壓機於150℃及10牛頓的壓力下壓製2分鐘為圓片狀。由圓片上切下一棒,且端處在液態氮温度破裂以曝露出一在棒緣的新表面。此新曝出之緣以一銀塗料塗覆並允許乾燥1小時。然後以電阻計測量沿棒的長度之電限,並計算體積電阻。此樣品於23℃具有396 ohm/cm之體積電阻。此在EVA中的膨脹之石墨的顯微鏡照片顯示於圖式中。
