Abstract

A sheet-separating device for an image input/output apparatus includes a pick-up roller, a multi-layer pad and an elasticity element. The elastic element exerts a force to the multi-layer pad to contact with the pick-up roller. The multi-layer comprise a firs pad layer and a second pad layer. The second pad layer stack with the first pad layer and contact with the pick-up roller by over-pressing. The sheet-separating device separates input sheets twice. Because the first separation step and the second separation step are consecutive and continuous so that the sheet feed rate, the scanning time or printing time will remain unaffected.
