Abstract

A process for production of composition containing a perovskite type compound comprising a first step and a second step is disclosed. In the first step, a hydrated oxide of B group element, which is at least one element selected from Ti, Zr, Hf or Sn, is heated in the presence of water medium and at the temperature ranging from 80 to 300 DEG C so as to dehydrate from said hydrated oxide. In the second step, the reaction product obtained in the first step and a hydroxide of A group element, which is at least one element selected from Ba, Sr, Ca, Mg or Pb, are heated at the presence of water medium and at the temperature ranging from 100 to 300 DEG C. According to the method of the present invention, a composition containing ABO3 compound, which is constituted of evenly fine and spherical granule having an average particle diameter less than 1 mum, preferably 0.01 to 0.5 mum and being highly crystallized, with optionally controlled A/B ratio, and having few void number of nanometer size within a crystal is obtainable.
