Abstract
A process for preparing polyethylene naphthalate comprising esterification reaction between naphthalenedicarboxylic acid and ethylene glycol in which the amount of water used is 0.03 to 1.5 times the weight of ethylene glycol; at the time of esterification, water is removed to obtain esterized product of naphthalenedicarboxylic acid/ethylene glycol; and subjecting the esterification reaction product to polycondensation.
