Abstract

An adaptive display memory management system used for using spare memory on graphic card as extra system memory includes: (1) one address decoder for capturing an address signal from system bus to decode the address value and output the address value to sustracter; (2) one base address register of virtual system memory whose content is starting address value of virtual system memory, and outputting it to subtracter; (3) one subtrcter for calculating the difference between address value of system bus and base address register content value of virtual system memory as virtual system memory address, and outputting to comparator and virtual system memory controller; (4) one length register of virtual system memory whose content is length of wanting to use virtual system memory, and outputting the content to comparator; (5) one comparator for comparing virtual system memory address and virtual system memory length, and outputting one control signal to virtual system memory controller; (6) one virtual system memory controller for transforming virtual system memory address, and outputting actual address of corresponding display memory, and outputting a control signal to instruct read/write commands to display memory.
