Abstract

Description
本發明係關於黏著劑標籤及膠帶以及熱封塗層領域。更明確而言,本發明係關於包括包含兩階段丙烯酸聚合物組合物可之熱活化壓敏黏著劑之無內襯標籤及膠帶。所揭示之可熱活化壓敏黏著劑不需要聚矽氧頂塗層或自塗覆點有黏性的黏著劑。相反,所揭示之壓敏黏著劑不具有初始黏性但可藉由應用外部刺激(諸如應用熱能,例如熱量)得到黏性。

第一階段

兩階段聚合物粒子合成
在一些實施例中,第一階段--更硬、更具親水性的階段--在第二階段之前聚合,亦即,第一階段係「第一階段」或「階段1」。第二階段--更軟、更具疏水性的階段--聚合於第一階段內,亦即,第二階段係「第二階段」或「階段2」。硬親水性階段可原位合成或所述硬親水性階段可使用現有鹼溶性聚合物。
在一些實施例中,第一階段佔兩階段聚合物粒子之10至50、或10至30、或15至25重量百分比。在一些實施例中,第二階段佔兩階段聚合物粒子之50至90、或70至90,或75至85重量百分比。
增黏劑

實例藉由兩階段逐步添加丙烯酸聚合製程來製備。本文中所描述之製程利用由用於確定乳液之最終粒度的初始預成型種子的選擇判定之兩種不同方法進行。預成型種子係具有可用於「接種」在乳液聚合製程期間形成之粒子的相對均一粒度之較小粒子。所使用之兩種預成型種子具有不同粒度,且因此需要總單體含量之不同層級或比率以便實現200nm的最終粒度。製程概述於下表1中。
說明性實例1(「IE1」)約45%固體
在裝配有頂置式攪拌器、氮氣吹掃及熱電偶的四頸5L圓底燒瓶中,在氮氣吹掃下將去離子水及12.5wt%(以總單體計(「BOTM」))聚合物預成型體1的初始裝料加熱至90℃。在90℃下,斷開氮氣且減少熱源以便使鍋保持溫熱。將用作緩衝液之0.15wt%(以總單體計)碳酸銨及0.3wt%(以總單體計)過硫酸銨(「APS」)添加至燒瓶。在82至84℃之起始溫度下,佔兩階段製程中之總單體的10wt%的階段1單體乳液(「ME」)、界面活性劑及水經25分鐘進料,且0.8wt%(以階段單體計)APS在85℃之反應溫度下經35分鐘進料。實例之各種階段1及階段2單體乳液之相關組分在表2中詳述。在APS進料結束之後,所述批料在85℃下保持20分鐘。在保持20分鐘之後,佔兩階段製程中之總單體之90%的階段2 ME、界面活性劑及水隨後經90分鐘進料至反應器中,而添 加0.2公克的約29%氨之0.12wt%(以總單體計)APS之引發劑裝料經110分鐘進料至鍋。所述批料隨後在85℃下保持20分鐘且冷卻至60℃。在60℃下,添加少量0.009% FeSO4 7H2O,隨後添加0.1wt%(以總單體計)第三丁基氫過氧化物(t-BHP)及0.06wt%(BOTM)甲醛合次硫酸氫鈉(「SSF」)。所述批料隨後在60℃下保持20分鐘。在所述保持結束時,添加0.06wt%(以總單體計)過氧化氫。所述批料隨後冷卻至45℃且藉由添加約14%氫氧化銨水溶液來中和至pH 8.5。所述批料隨後冷卻至35℃且經由100目篩過濾。
說明性實例2(「IE2」)及比較實例3(「CE3」)約45%固體
說明性實例2及比較實例3以與說明性實例1相同之方式、用不同階段1及階段2組合物製得,所述組合物在表2中詳述。
說明性實例3(「IE3」)約45%固體
在裝配有頂置式攪拌器、氮氣吹掃及熱電偶的四頸5L圓底燒瓶中,在氮氣吹掃下將去離子水之初始裝料加熱至90℃。在90℃下,斷開氮氣且減少熱源以便使鍋保持溫熱。向鍋添加0.3wt%(以總單體計)APS及2.7wt%(以總單體計)聚合物預成型體2裝料。在82至84℃之起始溫度的情況下,佔兩階段製程中之總單體之15wt%的階段1 ME、界面活性劑及水經35分鐘進料,且0.8wt%(以階段單體計)APS在85℃之反應溫度下經45分鐘進料。在APS進料結束之後,所述批料在85℃下保持20分鐘。在此20分鐘保持之後,佔兩階段製程中之總單體的85%的階段2 ME、界面活性 劑及水隨後經90分鐘進料至反應器中,而0.12wt%(以總單體計)APS經110分鐘進料至鍋。進料在前10分鐘以最終進料速率之一半開始,且隨後單體乳液之其餘部分分別經剩餘的80及100分鐘進料。所述批料隨後在85℃下保持20分鐘且冷卻至60℃。在60℃下,添加少量0.009% FeSO4 7H2O,隨後添加0.1wt%(以總單體計)第三丁基氫過氧化物(t-BHP)及0.06wt%(以總單體計)SSF。所述批料隨後在60℃下保持20分鐘。在所述保持結束時,添加0.06wt%(以總單體計)過氧化氫之第二追加。所述批料隨後冷卻至45℃且藉由添加約14%氫氧化銨水溶液來中和至pH 8.5。所述批料隨後冷卻至35℃且經由100目篩過濾。

說明性實例4以除單體乳液階段比率之外與說明性實例3相同之方式製得。單體乳液階段比率之變化導致後續單體乳液進料安排之變化。在說明性實例4的情況下,佔兩階段製程中之總單體之20wt%的階段1 ME、界面活性劑及水經40分鐘進料,且0.8wt%(以階段單體計)APS在85℃之反應溫度下經50分鐘進料,而佔兩階段製程中之總單體的80%的階段2 ME、界面活性劑及水隨後經85分鐘進料至反應器中,而0.12wt%(以總單體計)APS經105分鐘進料至鍋。進料在前10分鐘以一半速率開始,且隨後逐漸升至全速率分別持續剩餘的75及95分鐘。說明性實例4之所有其他態樣與說明性實例3一致。
說明性實例5(「IE5」)約45%固體
說明性實例5以除單體乳液階段比率之外與說明 性實例3相同之方式製得。階段比率之變化導致其後續ME進料安排之變化。在說明性實例5的情況下,佔兩階段製程中之總單體之25wt%的階段1 ME、界面活性劑及水經45分鐘進料,且0.8wt%(以階段單體計)APS在85℃之反應溫度下經55分鐘進料,而佔兩階段製程中之總單體之75%的階段2 ME、界面活性劑及水隨後經80分鐘進料至反應器中,而0.12wt%(以總單體計)APS經100分鐘進料至鍋。進料在前10分鐘以一半速率開始,且隨後逐漸升至全速率分別持續剩餘的70及90分鐘。說明性實例5之所有其他態樣與說明性實例3一致。
說明性實例6(「IE6」)至12(「IE12」)約45%固體

比較實例1(「CE1」)約50%固體

比較實例4(「CE4」)約45%固體
使用具有匹配說明性實例1之乳液的整體組成之單階段單體乳液製備比較實例4。在裝配有頂置式攪拌器、氮氣吹掃及熱電偶的四頸5L圓底燒瓶中,在氮氣吹掃下將去離子水及12.5wt%(以總單體計)聚合物預成型體1的初始裝料加熱至91℃。在91℃下,斷開氮氣且減少熱源以便使鍋保持溫熱。向鍋添加用作緩衝液的0.15wt%(以總單體計)碳酸銨及0.3wt%(以總單體計)APS。在82至84℃之起始溫度的情況下,佔單階段製程中之總單體之100%的ME、界面活性劑及水經120分鐘進料,且0.2wt%(以階段單體計)APS在85℃之反應溫度下經140分鐘進料。在APS進料結束之後,所述批料在85℃下保持20分鐘。在此20分鐘保持之後,將所述批料冷卻至60℃。在60℃下,添加少量0.009% FeSO4 7H2O,隨後添加0.1wt%(以總單體計)t-BHP及0.05wt%(以總單體計)SSF。所述批料隨後在60℃下保持20分鐘。在所述保持結束時,添加0.06wt%(以總單體計)過氧 化氫。所述批料隨後冷卻至45℃且藉由添加約14%氫氧化銨水溶液來中和至pH 8.5。所述批料隨後冷卻至35℃且經由100目篩過濾。
第一階段(亦即,階段1,親水性階段)之可接受玻璃態化溫度範圍在40至150℃之範圍內。此玻璃態化溫 度範圍確保固體殼在室溫直至共同阻斷溫度(大致40℃)下含有軟的、黏性核心。對於第一階段而言,說明性實例之玻璃態化溫度在56至91℃範圍內。實例之玻璃態化溫度係根據Fox-Flory方程式確定。第二階段(亦即,階段2,疏水性階段)的可接受玻璃態化溫度在-65至-25℃範圍內。此玻璃態化溫度範圍確保核心具有黏附性質。在第二階段中,說明性實例之玻璃態化溫度在-58至-50℃範圍內。如上文所論述,可使用Hansch疏水性數指示疏水性。表3詳述說明性實例1至3及比較實例1至4之第一及第二階段的Hansch疏水性數。所展示之數以在聚合反應期間的pH下存在之狀態計算。如上文所論述,出於本發明的目的,期望兩個階段之Hansch疏水性數不同以使得其等保持不可混溶,且更具親水性階段亦係較高玻璃態化溫度階段。
黏著劑組合物調配物
在實例中,兩個組分調配物以所要比率經稱入6打蘭小瓶中,其中總濕重為20公克。本文中所揭示之表中所給定的比率係濕重百分比。小瓶經封蓋且人工地搖晃30秒以確保樣品良好混合。隨後在塗覆至基板之前使樣品靜置2小時(2密耳聚對苯二甲酸乙二醇酯,自Chemsultants獲得)。樣品混合物之1.6密耳潮濕塗料用BYK塗覆棒塗覆至基板。經塗覆的樣品隨後在40℃下在對流烘箱中乾燥10分鐘,留下0.5至0.9密耳乾燥薄膜。增黏劑梯型實例經描述為變體且如此標記:聚合物乳液中之10濕重百分比增黏劑標記為「A」,聚合物乳液中之20濕重百分比增黏劑標記為「B」,聚合物乳液中的30濕重百分比增黏劑標記為「C」,且聚合物乳液中之40濕重百分比增黏劑標記為「D」,不管增黏劑或乳液固體。描述為「單獨(Alone)」之變體係純淨聚合物乳液。
實例中之所有調配物提供濕重分數。乾燥薄膜固體可基於調配物中之每一組分的所給定固體計算。
原材料調配物
Snowtack FH95G--藉由Lawter分散的氫化松酯,約57%固體。
Dermulsene DP 0708--藉由MWV專用化學製品分散的穩定松酯,53%固體。
黏著測試方法
無水薄膜抵靠用於保護之聚矽氧脫模紙置放,且在受控溫度(72℉)下及濕度(50% RH)的房間中靜置隔夜以平衡。薄膜隨後剪切成用於黏著劑(亦即,剝離)及阻斷測試之1吋乘6吋的條帶。製備兩組條帶,其中一組在未活 化的情況下塗覆至測試基板且另一組經熱活化。經活化測試條帶藉由使用設定在110℃及15秒之Werner Mathis AG烤箱加熱而經活化,其中條帶黏著劑向上停置於方形網格為0.5cm之網格架上。條帶隨後用2kg手推墨輥經層壓至下文所描述的測試基板。未活化測試條帶用相同的2kg手推墨輥塗覆至測試基板。剝離力係自基板移除塗覆有黏著劑之薄膜所需要之力的度量。剝離力在層壓步驟之後的60分鐘停留時間及24小時停留時間之後經量測。具體地說,180°剝離力使用測試方法PSTC 101測試方法A自不鏽鋼(「SS」)面板及高密度聚乙烯(「HDPE」)面板在每一停留時間量測一次。12吋每分鐘之剝離速率用於所有測試而非測試方法中所規定的5mm/秒。
阻斷測試
測試方法
阻斷測試使用未活化(亦即,未加熱)測試條帶且面朝朝向聚酯膜片之黏著劑或引導固定至不鏽鋼面板之熱敏紙(影像層朝向黏著劑)。此構造置放於50℃烤箱中1週,其中在測試條帶頂部上放置1kg砝碼,其中所得壓力大於或等於12公克每cm2。在一週之後,構造置放於受控溫度(72℉)及濕度(50% RH)房間中隔夜以平衡。測試條帶隨後經受上文所描述之180°剝離力測試。
應用概述
大體而言,良好黏著劑系統在活化之前向高表面能(例如,不鏽鋼)及低表面能(例如,HDPE)表面提供較低(約<2N/in)黏著且在活化之後向彼等表面提供較高黏著。對於不鏽鋼而言,黏著大於8N/in通常被視為良好,且對於HDPE而言,大於5N/in係良好。未活化與經活化黏著值之間的變化愈大,終端應用中之黏著劑愈好。較佳失效模式係黏著失效,其中黏著劑自其塗覆之基板乾淨地去除;而如內聚失效之不利失效係黏著劑分裂及留存於表面及黏著劑塗佈面材上。阻斷值(N/in)應根據5N/in求平均值,其中低於2N/in更好。此外,黏著失效對阻斷測試同樣較佳。
無增黏劑之所有實例具有不佳黏著增量,且往往具有通常較低黏著。說明性實例4及5歸因於混合失效模式較不佳,且歸因於較高階段兩個量具有較高未活化黏著值。說明性實例10及11使用較高經活化黏著展現尤其較小阻斷數及未活化黏著。
對比實例1使階段之次序在聚合期間反向且未能產生穩定乳液,此係不利的。比較實例2藉由用EHA取代BA來使用較低BA濃度,此造成極高阻斷數及未活化黏著。對比實例3應直接地與說明性實例2相比較,此係因為其使用相同基質聚合物但使用不同未經氫化增黏劑。此造成對HDPE之較低黏著及對SS的較高未活化黏著。阻斷不如說明性實例。比較實例4將兩個階段組合至單一階段進料中,此造成總體內聚失效及不佳整體黏著。
Claims (22)
- 一種可活化黏著劑組合物,其包括:兩階段聚合物粒子,其包括:第一階段,其包括具有小於200mg KOH/g之酸含量的親水性丙烯酸聚合物;第二階段,其聚合於所述第一階段內且包括疏水性丙烯酸聚合物;及增黏劑,其可溶於所述第一階段及所述第二階段中。
- 如申請專利範圍第1項之可活化黏著劑組合物,其中所述第一階段具有40至150℃之玻璃態化溫度。
- 如前述申請專利範圍中任一項之可活化黏著劑組合物,其中所述第一階段具有50至100℃的玻璃態化溫度。
- 如前述申請專利範圍中任一項之可活化黏著劑組合物,其中所述第二階段具有-80至-30℃之玻璃態化溫度。
- 如前述申請專利範圍中任一項之可活化黏著劑組合物,其中所述第二階段具有-55至-45℃的玻璃態化溫度。
- 如前述申請專利範圍中任一項之可活化黏著劑組合物,其中所述親水性丙烯酸聚合物具有5,000至10,000g/mol之分子量。
- 如前述申請專利範圍中任一項之可活化黏著劑組合物,其中所述疏水性丙烯酸聚合物具有30,000至100,000g/mol的分子量。
- 如前述申請專利範圍中任一項之可活化黏著劑組合物,其中所述第一階段佔所述第一階段及所述第二階段之總重量的10至50重量百分比。
- 如前述申請專利範圍中任一項之可活化黏著劑組合物,其中所述增黏劑係具有在90與110℃之間的軟化點之經氫化松酯增黏劑。
- 如前述申請專利範圍中任一項之可活化黏著劑組合物,其中以所述黏著劑組合物之乾重計,所述增黏劑佔所述黏著劑組合物的5至50重量百分比。

- 如前述申請專利範圍中任一項之可活化黏著劑組合物,其中所述親水性丙烯酸聚合物包括選自由以下組成之群的單體:丙烯酸、甲基丙烯酸、丙烯酸及甲基丙烯酸之酯、伊康酸、丁烯酸、丙烯醯胺、甲基丙烯醯胺、丙烯醯胺及甲基丙烯醯胺之衍生物,及其中兩種或多於兩種的混合物。

- 一種用於將第一基板黏著至第二基板的方法,其包括:將如前述申請專利範圍中任一項之可活化黏著劑組合物塗覆至所述第一基板之表面;加熱所述可活化黏著劑組合物;及使所述第一基板之所述表面與所述第二基板的表面接觸。
