Abstract

A power on circuit for computer includes a heatsink, a super input/output (SIO) chip, a first switch, a second switch, a third switch, and a connector for connecting to a power supply. When the heatsink is installed on the motherboard of the computer properly, the heatsink is grounded. The first switch is turned off. After the power on button is pressed down, the second switch receives a low level signal from a power supply on pin of the SIO chip, so the second switch is turned off, the third switch is turned on, a power supply on pin of the connector receive a low level signal, and the computer is turned on. However, when the heatsink is installed on the motherboard of the computer improperly, the heatsink is not grounded. The first switch is turned on, the third switch is turned off, the power supply on pin of the connector receives a high level signal, and the computer cannot be turned on.
