Abstract

The present invention provides a liquid crystal alignment agent that is capable of forming liquid crystal alignment film with high pretilt angle, good uniformity of alignment and outstanding image sticking resistance. The liquid crystal alignment agent contains a polymer having amic acid repeating unit and imidized repeating unit, and the ratio of amic acid repeating unit is 60 to 90 wt% relative to the total amount of amic acid repeating unit and imidized repeating unit, and the imidized repeating unit includes 5 to 100 mol% of a specific repeating unit such as the following equation (A) and the like.
