The present invention is directed to an automatic battery test system and method of an electronic device. A test program determines whether the capacity of a rechargeable battery is initially within a predetermined range; and, if not, the battery is then driven into the range by charging or discharging. Subsequently, charging and/or discharging test is performed, and associated battery status(s) is obtained.
