Abstract
A liquid crystal sealing agent is provided which is excellent in adhesion and adhesion reliability at high temperature and high moisture for long duration, electro-optics characteristic of liquid crystal, orientation maintenance characteristics of liquid crystal and viscosity stability when coating on a substrate of a liquid crystal panel. This invention is related to a liquid crystal sealing agent including denatured epoxy resin, wherein the denatured epoxy resin is prepared by a reaction of an epoxy resin and a ester compound represented by formula (1). The amount of the ester compound in the reaction is less than 1 mol in proportion to 1 mol of epoxy group of the epoxy resin. (In formula (1), R1 represents hydrogen atom or methyl group; R2 represents hydrogen atom, alkyl group, alkenyl group, halogen atom, nitro group or methoxy group; and X represents single bond, alkylene group or a group represented by formula (A) and (B).), (In formula (A) and (B), R3 represents alkylene group.)
