Abstract
The present invention relates to a real-time face detection under complex backgrounds, which consists essentially with three steps as follows: First, a modified YCbCr color based technique can be served as clues for potential face-like areas. Second, a wavelet-frame filtering algorithm is applied to enhance detection performance by removing most non-face-like regions rapidly in the potential face-like areas. Third, a support vector machine algorithm is adopted to classify the potential face-like candidate areas restricted by spatial template matching. By utilizing the facial component discriminative information, this approach identifies the face with low false alarm rate. At last, a novel approach based on wavelet entropy is presented to locate eyes and mouth positions, and then face-like areas can be shown by ellipses based on anthropometry and mouth and eye triangles.
