Abstract

Apparatus (1) for forming a resin patch on the threads of metallic threaded fastening devices (4) comprises a carrier assembly incorporating a carrier element (2) for locating the fastening devices on the carrier assembly, a resin application station (5) at which resin for forming the patch is applied to said threads, and means for moving the carrier assembly so that fastening devices (4) located on the carrier element (2) are moved through the resin application station (5). The carrier assembly incorporates heating means (3) for heating said carrier element (2) which is adapted to heat fastening devices (4) located thereon by conduction. The fastening devices (4) are preferably held on the carrier element (2) by magnetism. methods of forming a resin patch on the threads of metallic threaded fastening devices are also disclosed.
