To provide a method for treating seeds, by which the molding and decay of the seeds can easily and effectively be prevented without using an agrochemical without leaving the agrochemical and without affecting the seeds. This method for treating the seeds is characterized by bringing the seeds into contact with an aqueous sodium hypochlorite solution adjusted to a neutral region. Thereby, the molding and decay of the seeds can easily and effectively be prevented without using an organic agrochemical such as benomyl thiuram without leaving the agrochemical and without affecting the seeds.
