Abstract

A method of removing gas (198) from a printhead (22) that includes a plurality of orifices (63) configured to receive ink (106) from a supply conduit (62) through passages (64) extending from the supply conduit (62) to the plurality of orifices (63). The plurality of orifices (63) are sealed from external the printhead lo (22) to restrict passage of fluid through the orifices (63). Ink (106) is moved along the supply conduit (62) and through an outlet (66) of the supply conduit (62) disposed downstream of the passages (64), with the plurality of orifices (63) sealed, so that ink (106) displaces gas (198) from the supply conduit (62).
