Abstract

To provide a technique to achieve an OCB mode in a transflective liquid crystal display apparatus having a light reflective display part and a light transmissive display part. The display apparatus is characterized in that: a plurality of projections 24 or recesses are formed on one substrate of the light transmissive display part 30 in a portion facing a liquid crystal; a transparent electrode and an alignment layer are formed so as to cover the projections or recesses in the light transmissive display part; and an inclined face to promote liquid crystal alignment is formed in the alignment layer, the inclined face functioning as a nucleus to transit the liquid crystal from a spray alignment state to a bend alignment state.
