Abstract
To provide a method of manufacturing an optical film used for a liquid crystal display (LCD) or the like and having a phase difference function and a visible field angle enlargement function, the method capable of achieving an orientation angle distribution of a predetermined precision without troubles such as a wrinkle and the like in approximately whole area of the film and giving the film having uniform orientation angle in the widthwise direction (TD direction) and showing excellence in the phase difference compensation function and the visible field angle enlargement function. The method of manufacturing the optical film is characterized in that arrangement direction of a roll axis or axes of one or a plurality of transferring rolls in a film making line is adjusted in the angle range of more than 0 degree to not more than 5 degrees to the direction perpendicular to the transferring direction of the film when making the film depending on the orientation angle of the completed optical film.
