Abstract

A backlight module and a liquid crystal display using the same are disclosed. The liquid crystal display comprises a liquid crystal display panel and a backlight module. The backlight module is disposed under the liquid crystal display panel to provide a surface light source thereto. The backlight module comprises a first frame, a light guide plate, at least a reflector, at least a linear light source, and at least a holder. The first frame has a bottom plate and pluralities of side plates, which are connected to and are perpendicular to the bottom plate. The light guide plate is disposed on the bottom plate and has a light incident surface. The reflector is assembled near the light incident surface of the light guide plate. The linear light source is disposed between the light incident surface of the light guide plate and the reflector. The holder is assembled to one end of the linear light source and has at least a wedge-trough. One end of the reflector and the end of side-plates near the reflector are wedged in the wedge-trough.
