Abstract

This patent aims to apply the Hierarchy-genetic-algorithm trained artificial neural network and GM(1,N) model of the grey system theory to the design and development of the thermal error compensation system of CNC machine tools. Since the major factor that influences the machining precision is the thermal deformation of machine structure during machining, more and more CNC machine tools maker pay lots of attention on the thermal error compensation technique. To fast and precisely establishing the thermal error model, this patent uses GM(1,N) model to analyze the influence ranking of temperature ascent on the thermal deformation, and Hierarchy-genetic-algorithm trained artificial neural networks (HGANN) to build the thermal error models. Besides, this patent provides a friendly GUI interface with Matlab programming which can effectively reduce the complexity of human manipulation.
