Abstract

To provide a gas cooking appliance with a heating-power regulating function that is not affected by boil over and can certainly regulate the heating power of a burner to the optimal heating power with respect to the magnitude of the diameter of a cooking vessel on a trivet. The gas cooking appliance comprises the trivet for supporting the cooking vessel, and the burner for burning fuel gas to heat the bottom face of the cooking vessel mounted on the trivet. The gas cooking appliance further comprises a flame detecting means 11 for detecting the presence or absence of the flame of the burner 2 projecting to the upside than a mounting surface F for mounting the cooking vessel C of the trivet 7, and a heating-power regulating means 30 for regulating the heating power of the burner 2. When a flame is detected by the flame detecting means 11, the heating-power regulating means 30 is controlled to provide a heating-power of which flame is not detected by the flame detecting means 11.
