Abstract

The purpose of the invention is to provide a data-recording apparatus of recordable optical disc in which less deformation of shape is obtained for the recorded mark at high speed recording so as to decrease the waveform deformation of the regenerated signal. When the user sets as high as eight times of recording speed, the recording policy setting portion (22) sets a recording policy, which adds the assistant pulse between the front end pulse and the rear end pulse of the recording pulse, to the recording power determination portion (12) according to the waveform deformation amount of regenerated signal. Thus, thermal energy per unit time of the central portion of the recorded mark can be increased so as to decrease the deformation of the regenerated waveform, which is caused by the insufficient thermal energy that shrinks the optical disc in the radial direction and makes the recorded mark have a drum shape.
