Description
The proposed method differs from those known in that the height of the spherical segment, the drop of the liquid under investigation on the horizontal plane of the plate from the material in contact with the liquid and the diameter of its contact with the plate are determined, after which the edge angle of the liquid is determined. The accuracy of the determination depends on the possible deformation of the drop and its size. In order to obtain small droplets when applied to material plates, a thin-walled tube of small diameter is required.
The instrument for carrying out the pointer method is made in the form of a ring bearing a horizontal scale, equipped with legs and a vertical scale. On the colpe there is an inclined mirror designed for projecting the image of a plum and itcal to the screen.
FIG. I shows the diagram of the device; in fig. 2-scale instrument.
A drop of liquid 4 is applied to the surface of the material / (Fig. 1) pressed against the stage 2 by clips 3. A drop ring is placed on the legs, to which a horizontal transparent cross-shaped scale 6 (Fig. 2) is attached, to measure the diameter of the drop, and two vertical scales 7 for measuring its height. Above the ring there is an inclined angle 8 (Fig. 1), reflecting the image of the drop and the scale on the screen. For simultaneous consideration of both projections of the drop and obtaining the dimensions of height, as well as its diameter, an optical device K with an objective serves.
The scheme can be performed without an inclined mirror, when consideration of the projections of the drop and determination of its dimensions will be performed through the optical device with two installations of the tube with the lens in the vertical and horizontal positions.
If it is necessary to determine the contact angle for selective wetting in a liquid medium, and not at the boundary with air, the same device can be approximated, but the scales and the ring with mirrors should be
повернуты вниз на 180° и заключены в стекл нную ванну с параллельными стенками и днищами посто нной толщины, а ножки кольца прикреплены к верхнему днищу, к которому прилегает капл .they are turned down by 180 ° and enclosed in a glass bath with parallel walls and bottoms of constant thickness, and the legs of the ring are attached to the upper bottom, to which the drop is attached.
