Description

The invention provides a new method for producing clinker bricks for lining rotary kilns, which are currently manufactured everywhere from a mixture of clinker and cement. This mixture, moistened with a sufficient amount of water, after molding, hardens quickly in the cold and gives a fairly strong brick. However, the resistance of such a brick is very insignificant in practice - at best, a little more than a month, most often several days.

The resistance of cement-clinker bricks can be weakly explained by the rapid loss of its strength under service conditions. As is well known, substances that form trapped cement lose relatively easily hydrated water at elevated temperatures. Cement dehydration processes begin already at 300 ° and develop rapidly with increasing temperature. Thus, with a prolonged stay of the cement at a temperature of 400-500 ° C, it completely loses its binding properties and naturally cannot bind the clinker grains in the brick. The mechanical strength of the clinker-cement brick begins to increase again already at very high temperatures of about 1200 ° and higher, i.e., at the temperatures of the start of sintering the clinker.

In the entire clinker-cement lining of the rotary kiln, there is therefore a zone of reduced strength in the middle part of the brick, along which collapses of whole sections of the lining under the influence of jolts, losses, increased and uneven load from rings, coating and other causes occur.

The elimination of the weak zone of clinker brick can dramatically increase the resistance of the lining and eliminate the main cause of poor service - collapses.

It is possible to ensure the required quality by introducing clinker linings into the composition, which would not only preserve the mechanical properties of the brick in a cold state, but even provide an increase in these properties with increasing temperature. Combinations of organic or inorganic adhesives such as molasses, dextrin, sulfite can serve as such bonds.
