Description

It is known that in order to obtain a small oilseed oil and other drying oils, the oil is heated and purged with air. This operation is performed in the presence of a so-called. desiccants, which, when dissolved in oil, significantly accelerate the process of its drying, i.e., the transformation of thin layers of oil in air into a solid linoxin film. As such shikkativov usually used in small quantities (from 0.5 to the weight of the oil) oxides or salts (boric acid, resin, flax acid, naphthenic, etc.) manganese, lead or cobalt. Compounds of other metals have weak catalytic properties and have little effect on the drying rate or, more precisely, the oxidation of the drying oil. Among such compounds, which are usually not used for this purpose, belong, as is appropriate, to iron salts, which, when introduced even in large quantities into drying oil and oil varnishes, either do not speed up the drying process, or give a very fragile film.

According to the inventor, the difference from all other compounds of iron, its salts with naphthenic acids, obtained by raffinating petroleum distillates, can serve as a good material for obtaining a varnish or pulp for preparing varnishes. If you mix raw flax or other drying oil with a significant amount (about 30–30% of the weight of the oil) of naphthenic iron salts and process the mixture when heated with air, the iron salt dissolves in it and a completely transparent oil is obtained that dries on They are as fast as ordinary varieties of linseed, thus forming a completely transparent, solid, elegant and very durable film that is well preserved and counteracts the influence of atmospheric conditions. Despite the high content of iron salts
