Избыток углерода в процессе рафинировани обеспечиваетс за счет его проведени в ковше, футерованном графитом, или за счет нрисадки в ковщ на поверхность щлака молотого коксика. Рафинирование марганцевых ферросплавов синтетическими щлаками в нрнсутствии избытка углерода позвол ет предотвратить окисление марганца обрабатываемого сплава. Способ прост и технологичен. В качестве примера приводитс рафинирование силикомарганца. В однофазной руднотермической печи мощностью 140 ква с графитовой футеровкой расплавл ют и нагревают до 1600°С 10 кг щлака, содержащего, 7о: окись кальци 55,2, глинозем 36,8, двуокись кремни 2,1, закись железа 0,3, марганец 0,08, фосфор 0,006. Шлак вьшускают в футерованный графитом ковщ, куда нредварительно заливают 5 кг перегретого до 1600°С силикомарганца состава, %; кремний 21,51, марганец 68,85, фосфор 0,32. После 10 мин выдержки в ковше металл и шлак разливают в изложницу .
