Abstract

FIELD: electrolytic decomposition of water. SUBSTANCE: electrolytic cell comprises cylindrical casing, coaxially-arranged cylindrical electrodes separated by tightly-secured membrane, electrolyte inlet and outlet pipes likewise coaxial with the casing and being, essentially, a continuation of electrodes. Hold-down device disposed between casing and outer electrode is made of perforated washers of which the end ones are made from a dielectric material which presses spring members of a conducting material. EFFECT: higher productivity and uniform distribution of current over membrane surface. 2 cl, 3 dwg
