Abstract
A volumetric display apparatus generates a three-dimensional image in which points of a 3D display space are illuminated. A user manipulates a data entry device 6 which emits an EM wave 7 which physically penetrates into the display space. Sensors embedded in the display space detect the EM wave 7, and their outputs are used to determine the trajectory of the EM wave in the coordinate system of the display space, and thereby determine a line extending within the display space. Optionally, the user is permitted to select a point on this line.
