Abstract

The invention concerns a method for maintaining an association between mobile equipment identities and mobile phone subscribers' identities. Mobile equipment typically maintains some form of subscriber identity that determines the mobile number used to communicate with the mobile equipment. In GSM networks this is typically in the form of a SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) Card that maintains subscriber identity. The system can 1) track changes in subscriber identity with reference to one or more mobile terminals, 2) notify an observing party of such changes, 3) maintain a record of any such information which may be current or historical in nature, 4) allow this information to be queried for current subscriber identity parameters (phone number) which may be used to communicate with the mobile equipment.
