Abstract

The table frame is divided into upper and lower sections (33, 32), with the tabletop (31) being supported by the upper section. As the height of the upper section and tabletop is altered, a hydraulic or pneumatic damping component (42) changes the amount of force required to raise or lower the table. Two parallel damping components (42, 42a) are provided, each containing a moving piston, one being pneumatic and the other hydraulic. Increasing or reducing the pressure in the hydraulic damping component is used to vary the amount of force opposing movement of the table in the height direction.
