Abstract

A method for producing pulp from material containing lignocellulose by cooking in an alkaline, aqueous cooking liquid which contains one or more organic solvents having a low boiling point and one or more redox catalysts is disclosed, the method being characterized in that the alkaline aqueous cooking liquid also contains (an) alkaline sulphite compound(s) and (an) alkaline sulphide compound(s) in aqueous solution.
