Abstract

A seat device for a motor vehicle comprises a seat bottom (2), a back support (1) and a head support (3). The back support and the head support are arranged to provide support of the head, the neck and the back portion of a user sitting in the seat device. The back support (1) has an angle of inclination which may be adjustable or fixed. The seat device comprises means (10, 11) which, at a violent vehicle accident, such as a rear-end collision but also secondarily after a frontal collision, during which the head, the neck and the back portion are rearwardly accelerated, and irrespective of the angle of inclination (O-U) of the back support (1), are arranged to provide the movement of the back support (1) to such a first safety position (N) that simultaneity of the retardation of said acceleration of the head, the neck and the back portion is essentially obtained.
