Abstract

A paper roll (3) is rotatably mounted in the container. The web to be dispensed is deflected around the edge of a web deflecting guide member (4) whose effective diameter is greater than the roll diameter. The guide member is located between the roll and the web outfeed opening (63) in the container. The guide member (4) can rotate about an axis coaxial with the container. As the web is withdrawn through the opening (63), tensile force acting on the web lifts the roll from its bottom seating surface to minimise friction. If the opening (63) faces down, the roll rests on the rotatable guide (4), similarly minimising friction.
