Abstract

The cover (3) comprises two separate halves (3a,3b) is supported by a frame and each incorporates one or more blowing boxes (4), which extend along the drying cylinder cover surface and has holes (5) directed towards it for blowing out drying air against a paper web applied to the drying cylinder. Each cover half (3a,3b) has a position indicator (11), which is arranged so that during the operation of the device it continuously monitors the distance between the blowing box or boxes (4) and the drying cylinder (2) to emit an output signal dependent upon this distance. At least one positioning unit (12) is arranged to receive the output signal and dependent upon it continuously adjusts the position of the blowing boxes or at least a part of the blowing boxes (4). A constant distance is maintained between the blowing box hole (5) and the paper web applied to the drying cylinder (2).
