Abstract

A pressure chamber, e.g. for the security checking of flight baggage, which resists against internal detonations and is of cylindrical shape having end walls is assembled in situ without welding from individual parts. The cylindrical wall of the pressure chamber (1) consists of curved plates (6a, 6b, 7a, 7b, 8a, 8b) which, at their edges, have folds (25, 26) undercut at the rear side. The connection along the joints is effected by means of U-shaped connecting strips (27) having a dovetailed groove, which grip around the folds, and wedge-shaped inserts (29) inserted into the joint from the other side, which are clamped against the connecting strips (27) and press the fold rear sides sealingly against the flanks of the dovetailed groove. <IMAGE>
