Abstract

Apparatus for turning objects, for example poles, as they are being raised, about their longitudinal axis, which apparatus can but does not need to be borne by a crane, and, in order to permit mechanical turning of such objects, the apparatus comprises two arms 3, 5 which are curved towards each other and enclose the object which is to be turned, one of these arms 3, 5 being provided with a turning mechanism 12 which has at least one rotatable turning member 13, and at least one of the two arms 3, 5 can be pivoted about an axis 8, parallel to the axis of rotation 20 of the turning member, relative to the second arm so as to bring the turning member 13 of the turning mechanism into contact with the object which is enclosed by the arms and which is to be turned. <IMAGE>
