Abstract
A lock, which can be used in particular as a safe-deposit box lock, has a key-operated sliding bolt 5 and, stacked on the latter, a number of tumblers 10, for example eight of them. One tumbler 11 with a form differing from the others effects, towards the end of the movement of the sliding bolt to the closure position, a movement of a block 13, positively controlled by the action of the key, which ensures that all the tumblers assume their locking positions before the key is removed from the lock and further maintains the tumblers in these positions after removal of the key. Upon insertion of a key with another code profile in the release position of the lock mechanism, the tumblers 10 adapt thereto.
