Abstract

A peeling machine for vegetable products, especially potatoes, comprises a chamber having a charging end (10) and a discharging end (14). A conveying screw (52) is rotatably journalled in the chamber for feeding the products through the chamber. Peeling means (8) are positioned within the chamber for peeling the products while the products are fed through the chamber. The thread (56) of the conveying screw and a peripheral surface surrounding the chamber form a helically extending peeling space in the chamber. The feeding chamber is of decreasing size from the charging end towards the discharging end. Preferably the decreasing size of the peeling space is achieved by decreasing the pitch of the conveying screw thread from the charging end to the discharging end of the chamber. <IMAGE>
