Abstract

The gearbox has one or more groups of meshing friction or gearwheels. To permit automatic gear changes, one of two meshing wheels has a free wheel with a peripheral part (22) and a hub. An activatable lock (5) completely frees the peripheral part (22) from the shaft (3) on which the hub part is located, independently of the direction of rotation. When inactivated, the wheel periphery is driven by its hub part in only one of the directions of rotation for transmission of driving force from or to the shaft (3) on which the wheel is fitted.
