Abstract

A pressure medium-operable toggle lever clamping device has a cylinder housing (1) defining a working chamber (2) in which a piston (3) is axially displaceably located. In order, inter alia, for the device to have a smaller overall width than a conventional device wherein the cylinder working space and piston are at cylindrical configuration, the present working chamber (2) and piston (3) have a rectangular (Fig. 2), shallow oval (Fig. 3) or other elongate, non-cylindrical basic cross-sectional configuration. <IMAGE>
