Abstract
A transmission has a casing (3, 4), which has a transmission chamber (20A) filled with air and lubricating oil, closed by sealing elements (19, 20) or the like and provided with a ventilation aperture (21, 22, 23, 24) opening into the surroundings of the casing (3, 4), in which power transmission elements (11, 12) are fitted which heat up during operation. So that the lubricating oil remains in the casing (3, 4), even when the air in the transmission chamber (20A) is exposed to larger temperature fluctuations, the ventilation opening is formed by an expansion chamber (22) arranged immediately next to the transmission chamber (20A) in the housing (3, 4) and by an inner ventilation duct (21) forming a communicating connection from the expansion chamber (22) to the transmission chamber (20A) and an outer ventilation duct (23, 24) forming a communicating connection from the expansion chamber (22) to the surroundings of the casing. In the expansion chamber (22) means are provided for the collection and return of the lubricating oil carried by the air flowing through. <IMAGE>
