Abstract

During replacement of a full reel (15) in a winding machine, the fresh tube (13) is inserted in the opposite direction to the ejection path of the full reel (15). The full reel (15) is ejected by pivoted pusher (1) moving clockwise around supporting roller (3). The fresh tube (13) is inserted by arm (11) pivoting anticlockwise around supporting roller (10) and engages the web. Cutter (20) on the pusher (1) then severs the web, a pressure roller is lowered onto the fresh tube (13) and winding re-commences. The web can be attached to the fresh tube (13) by an adhesive strip. <IMAGE>
