Abstract
The invention relates to a nuclear fuel pellet with an essentially cylindrical shape, which is subjected to a reduced thermal deformation and thus to a lesser risk of mechanical interactions with the shell, the base surfaces of which pellet are provided with a pair of essentially conical and axial cavities whose respective vertices are aligned towards the centre of the pellet; according to the invention, the larger diameter (d) of the essentially conical cavities is smaller than or equal to half the diameter (D) of the fuel pellet; furthermore, the ratio between the depth (h) of each cavity and its larger diameter (d) is smaller than or equal to 1. <IMAGE>
