Abstract

A lift truck comprises a centrally disposed electric drive, two load- supporting wheel or roller arrangements 16, 17 provided at the load end, and laterally disposed caster wheels 40. The caster wheels 40 are carried by battery carriers 28, which are adapted to be moved out of the chassis of the vehicle while guide means of the battery carrier remain in engagement with the chassis of the vehicle. The carriers comprise at least a bottom structure and the caster wheels are arranged near the outer edge of the bottom structure. The carriers may either by swung out about vertical hinges 44 or may be guided by roller-carrying telescopic rails which extend along or transversely to the chassis of the vehicle. The invention is intended to facilitate access to the drive assembly and/or the batteries 26. <IMAGE>
