Abstract

K 421 Novel trihalomethylhydroxylactones of the general formula: <IMG> and the cis-tautomeric-keto-acids, esters and salts wherein Xl, X2 and X3 represent a fluorine, chlorine or bromine atom. These compounds are useful intermediates in the preparation of cis-2- (2,2-dihalovinyl)-3,3-dimethyl-cyclopropanecarboxylic acids which are key intermediates in the manufacture of pyrethroid insecticides.
