Abstract

An intermediate moisture pet- food comprising a proteinaceous- farinaceous mix is provided with a a gravy-forming material, which forms a gravy or gravy-like liquid upon admixture with a warm aqueous liquid. The gravy-forming material is protected from premature activation by ambient moisture or moisture in the proteinaceous-farinaceous mix by coating particles of gravy-forming material with a solid fat. An antimicrobial agent and an antimycotic may also be included.
