Abstract

The invention indicates an expandable centring and coupling device for centring and at least light fixing of a component, e.g. a tool (3), on a shaft (2). The centring device has a sleeve (4) which is open at at least one end (6), can be pushed onto the shaft or displaced along the shaft and is provided at the open end, of which there is at least one, with a reinforcing ring (7) and a seal (8). Between the ends of the sleeve, the shaft (2) and the sleeve (4) together form a pressure chamber (9) for holding a pressure medium (10). Formed between the two ends of the sleeve is an expandable sleeve portion (15) which, upon pressurisation of the pressure medium (10), expands and centres the tool (3) on the shaft (2). The sleeve can be closed at one end (5) or open at both ends and the device for pressurising the sleeve can be integral with the latter or be provided by a pressure nipple or a similar device for the connection of an external pressure-medium source. <IMAGE>
