Abstract

The invention relates to measurement of the leakage flow from components that are being tested for tightness. According to the invention, the component 1 is connected to one end of a narrow pipe 4. The component contains a medium, suitably its working medium. The other end of the pipe is connected to a source of another medium, which is at a higher pressure and the density of which essentially differs from the density of the first medium, so that a boundary surface between the two mediums can be observed in the pipe. The leakage flow is determined by observation of the displacement of this boundary surface along the pipe. <IMAGE>
