1441217 Internally-meshing screw machines; mounting rotors ATLAS COPCO AB 17 July 1974 [20 July 1973] 31628/74 Heading F1F Axial balancing of the inner rotor 19, 20 of an internally-meshing screw rotor machine of the type in which both of the inner and outer members rotate is effected by fixing a balancing piston 29 between a nut 31 and the inner race of a ball bearing 17 in which stub staft 23 is mounted, the piston 29 having an area on the side thereof facing the rotor which is slightly less than the area of the space left between the rotors in any transverse cross-section, and the said side of the piston being exposed to high pressure so that the resulting axial force on the rotor is still in direction 39 but is reduced to an acceptable level. Piston 29 is mounted in its chamber within a peripheral fluid bearing 35.
