Lumber.-Boards and posts are made from the waste wood of timbersawing by cutting the rough - edged pieces evenly, then sorting into pieces of approximately the same length and joining together pieces of the same length edge to edge by gluing or matching or both. The compound sheets thus produced are dressed so that any given sheet is of one thickness. and are then trimmed, as shown in Fig. 5, to a rectangular form. Several such sheets are then glued together face to face to form a rectangular post as shown in Fig. 7. By sawing the post up in planes perpendicular to the plates, boards may be produced.
