Abstract

Two guide wheels (2a, 2b) are arranged one after the other in a common plane on one side of the belt (1). These two wheels are separated by a distance that allows a discharge wheel (3a) located in the same plane but on the opposite side of the belt to pass in between them. Normally these three wheels are in loose contact with the belt when the conveyor is closed, and to open the conveyor the discharge wheel is moved in between the guide wheels, causing the belt to swing out at an angle to the transport direction, and goods being transported on the belt will drop off into the space left by the discharge wheel. The overall angle of the discharge device and the displacement of the discharge wheel are used to control the path of the goods as they fall of the belt. Two of these discharge devices can be provided, which open and close in synchronism so that the total belt length is not affected.
