Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for measuring inspiration and/or expiration for photoplethysmographic (PPG) respiratory rate monitoring, comprising: detecting a PPG signal derivable from the inspiration and/or expiration from a patient by means of a detection device, extracting at least two different signal components from said PPG signal, wherein each of said different signal components is indicative of said inspiration and/or expiration, and by means of said extracted at least two different signal components deducing a respiratory synchronous signal.
